I get this whole national fetishism, as I myself have quite a bit for Canadian made stuff, but it’s over. It’s cheaper to manufacture elsewhere, just like almost everything else. Subsidies benefit us, but fuck everyone else. I hate sweatshops, wish they didn’t exist. I also know that foreign manufacturing have lifted hundreds of millions, yes hundreds, of people in China out of absolute poverty. It just isn’t efficient to do this in the US/Canada/EU.
